Overview

A large group of Pleistocene-to-Holocene basaltic pyroclastic cones and associated lava flows (Masurenkov, 1980) fills a topographic low north of Ksudach volcano and SW of Khodutka volcano. The Pleistocene Plosky volcano and the Holocene shield volcano Olkoviy lie near the north end of this group of NE-SW-trending cones. The small 636-m-high Olkoviy shield volcano rises 350 m above the valley floor.

Growth of the cone diverted the headwaters of the Savan River in a broad arc to the east. The eastern and southern margins of the volcanic field are bounded by the Pravaya Khodutka and Zapadnaya Khodutka Rivers, respectively.

The group consists of cones and lava flows, with Olkoviy cone in the center of the image and the cone immediately SE is Plosky. The western flank of Khodutka is to the E and the eroded Krugliy cone is in the NE corner.
